Traditional lifestyle
Urban lifestyle today is all about adopting changing trends and then waiting for the upcoming ones. Almost every person living in a metro or city has been completely detached from his or her traditions and customs. Yet many families around the world particularly in Asia and Europe, who belong to age old civilizations, have been able to maintain the so-called traditional lifestyle. This is because of the strong social norms that still prevail in these societies. These include, maintaining a simple or rather uncomplicated family structure of parents, children and grandparents. People follow certain dining, socializing and dressing habits which reflects their root. Traditional lifestyle although scarce today is still practiced by many people.
Traditional lifestyle is best reflected in people’s home. Those having a traditional and conservative life maintain a décor which has been passed on since generations. Modern interiors are sometimes intermixed with traditional patterns, colors, textiles and furniture. People do not adopt fashion trends so quickly and are happy dressing up in traditional attire.

Food habits also reflect traditional lifestyle. Many traditional cuisines like Indian, Italian, Chinese and Japanese are popular across the world. Food lovers of every country like to experiment with these cuisines and incorporate some in their eating habits. There are people who do not do so. In spite of experimenting with different cuisines people adhere to their traditional food habits.

A traditional lifestyle has many pros and cons. Although it seems ideal to many, there are risks involved. The most important of all is the inability of people to identify themselves with others. Globalization has caused blending of various lifestyle trends. Add to it many health risks. Often it is seen that traditional diets include fats, oils and sweets used in unhealthy quantities. These increase chances of cardiac and other baneful diseases. However, there are many traditional food habits like the Mediterranean diet or Chinese food habits which are considered to be healthy and having lower heart risks. It takes a lot of courage to defy present rules and hold on to a traditional way of life. However, traditional lifestyle because of its many weak points is slowly fading across the world.
