‘Art de Vivre’ or the Art of Living is what sums up an entire cultural experience called Life in France. The fact that living is considered an art, speaks for the high aesthetic taste and values of French people. French lifestyle is simplicity and richness personified. A different definition of simplicity
People love the idea of living in France but in a different way. You won’t get to see a very opulent lifestyle or for that matter a very rustic one. Life in France is a little different. In food, wine, dresses, shoes or even in a conversation French people show a high eclectic taste. This high sense of choice is not reflected in the lifestyle of French people. If you are an outsider coming from any high tech city like Sydney or Singapore, French lifestyle might look bland and boring to you. But within the folds of an insipid appearance lies the highest standards of living.
About Conversations and opinions
French people can’t live without quality conversations. Everyone has an opinion about everything. On any topic under the sun, French people love to debate specially among friends. Discussions are generally loud and the aggressive nature comes out. People might have stark differences of opinion but that is strangely a mark of close bonding. A French man or woman will confide in his closest friend and feels free to discuss anything anyway with them.
As for opinions, the French people show great involvement with the actions of the State. In any decision of the government, be it good or bad, French people will always make a judgment. It seems like almost a tradition, which has trickled down from the glorious pages of French History.
For the French people lifestyle is anything but actions that help one rise up the socio-economic ladder. Even if you are unemployed you will get as much respect as any other person. French people believe in socialism and not individualism. Life holds a different meaning. A French person can spend long hours talking about a good cheese or wine or art, and that won’t seem a waste of time for him or her.
