Living in Chile is as good an experience as that in any part of the world. Well, everyone might not agree with it. But life in the homes of Chile is no less good in terms of comfort. Add to it picturesque surroundings, a fairly comfortable weather and, friendly people, all of which guarantee satisfaction and peace. No doubt many Germans chose this country as home after World War II. People of Chile are a mixed race of mestizo, Spanish, Irish, Yugoslav and British origin. |
Many Americans and Europeans settled here have found Chile as convenient as their country of origin. Being a developing country the main cities and towns cater to a growing working class population. This has led to the growth of a service oriented consumer base. From pizzas to home videos, you can get all the comfort items by home delivery. Buying an apartment or car is less complicated than in any American or UK city. Transport service is superb and runs twenty four hours a day.
The houses are generally built of cement and concrete. Wooden houses are rear and built mainly by the poor. This is also because of the harsh rainy season when floods are common and many houses are washed away. The rest of the seasons are calm and cozy, particularly the winter when it snows!
Nightlife is also pretty good. People start socializing well past after dinner till the wee hours of night. Native Chileans take great interest in people of foreign origin. But this interest has got nothing to do with racism or general hatred. People adjust with foreigners very well provided they are also nice and friendly.
Majority of the Chilean population live in cities or urban areas. The rich or well to do people often employ servants from the lower working class. Family bonding is strong and like many traditional cultures young people continue to live with the family for long periods. Mapuche, the indigenous population of Chile adheres to their traditional customs and way of living. They are the poorest in the country and live in traditional wooden houses.
Life is overall calm and hassle free. Chileans are peace loving people. The basic idea of a South American country living under political instability is a myth in Chile.
